"A fine example of the appellation, a sure bet!"

This vintage develops complex aromas of ripe red fruits, even jammy. The balance is perfect and the acidity pleasantly pronounced. The tannins are mellow, providing fullness and great length on the palate.

Bettane & Desseauve

Bettane & Desseauve

Winery rated 1*Star (A serious, recommendable production, consistent with what one would expect from its appellation(s))

About the estate:

With a long family history, the Bruneau-Dupuy estate has now been taken over by Sylvain. Since 2012, the vineyard has been undergoing organic conversion. The estate covers an area of 20 hectares, protected to the north by the forest. Half of the estate is located on south-facing slopes, covered with old vines planted in clay-limestone soils. The wines produced from these vines are full-bodied and long on the palate. The other half of the vineyard is planted in sandy soil, which produces lighter, fruitier wines that are best enjoyed young. At less than €15, the wines offer good value for money.

Wine noted (guide 2025) 1*Star (Very successful wine)

Rated estate (2026 guide) Award-winning wines (This producer's wines are regularly awarded by the guide)

About wine:

Sixty-year-old vines and a year's aging in barrels have shaped this serious 2022 vintage, which has been carefully nurtured and can rely on its tight tannins and sun-kissed fruit to age well.

About the estate:

Representing the third generation of winegrowers on this consistently high-quality estate, Sylvain Bruneau, who took over in 1998, converted his 20-hectare vineyard to organic farming.

Ligers Competition - Loire Valley Wines

Concours des Ligers - Vins du Val de Loire

Rated wine (2025 guide) Silver medal - Loire Valley wines

About wine:

The deep ruby red color opens up to an expressive and pleasant nose that combines the aromas of red and black fruit jams (strawberry, raspberry, blackcurrant) with vanilla and spicy notes (pepper). The supple attack on the palate offers a fleshy texture, smoothness, volume, as well as fruity (jam), spicy and woody aromas that coat the present but mellow tannins and linger in an elegant, powerful and long finish. "Great potential." A superb Saint Nicolas de Bourgueil.
