"A surprising wine with a velvety, rich, and smooth structure."

An intense nose evoking notes of ripe fruit for an intense and fruity red, offering a beautiful tannic structure, velvety and silky, with a rich and concentrated finish. A very fine Saint-Nicolas!

Wine rating (2025 guide) 90/100 (2022 vintage)

Rated estate (2025 guide) 2 stars (A serious and recommendable production, but a little more consistent and uniform than the previous one)

About the estate:

By converting his Saint-Nicolas-de-Bourgueil vineyard to organic farming, Gérald Vallée has undertaken a thorough process of respecting the grapes. His wines reflect all the elegance and delicacy that the appellation's varied terroir has to offer. The range is impressive from the very first wines, which are elegant, distinguished, deep, and flavorful. There is something for everyone in this range of very reasonably priced wines.

1*Star rating (Serious production)

About the estate:

Gérald Vallée cultivates 27 hectares of Cabernet Franc, entirely converted to organic farming, with all the care that this entails: soil cultivation, leaf removal, etc. The entire production is sold under the Saint-Nicolas de Bourgueil appellation. In the cellar, no yeast or enzymes are added to the vats.

Wine rating (2025 guide) 90/100 (2022 vintage)

Rated estate (2026 guide) 2 stars (These very large estates, often blessed with fabulous terroirs, are must-haves which, thanks to their consistency and the excellence of their production, deserve a place in the cellars of discerning wine lovers).

About the estate:

The meticulous Gérald Vallée leaves nothing to chance in his winemaking process, which involves wooden vats and barrel aging. He produces full-bodied, seductive Cabernet Franc wines with smooth tannins that make them accessible when young, but also give them good aging potential. The latest vintages have gained considerably in fruit brightness, bringing them closer to the freshness of their terroir. The "fruit-forward" La Croisée cuvée is made with spontaneity, while Les Perruches is tactfully styled in wooden vats to highlight the identity of these flinty clay soils. On the Coteau du Vau Jaumier, Cabernet Franc reveals an inimitable smoothness and "sandy texture." And Postumus? A marvel of Cabernet Franc vinified in whole bunches with citrus and rose tones, an extraordinary wine for the region and indeed for the rest of the world. The added sparkle and freer expressions, while remaining very precise, invite us to award a second star.
