"In 2023, Matthieu Delaporte decided to produce just one red wine instead of the usual three; this wine is therefore a blend from his three vineyards located around Chavignol. It has a lively, concentrated nose of candied strawberries, with woody notes. The fruit is pure and flavorful, with fresh, excellent, and well-balanced acidity, as well as a lovely finish. All the grapes were destemmed, resulting in a velvety and approachable wine, ready to be enjoyed now.” (Decanter 2025).

Rated estate (2026 guide) 1*Star (Rising stars or high-quality winemakers producing wines of a good standard—you won’t be disappointed when you taste the wines from these estates)
About the estate:
In 2010, Matthieu Delaporte’s arrival led this historic Chavignol estate to shift toward soil management, the elimination of herbicides, lower yields, and barrel-aged winemaking. From the outset, the winemaker displayed great ambition and took on the task of restructuring a 33-hectare vineyard. This was a major undertaking aimed at producing more refined wines, which have been certified organic since 2023. The lineup combines blended wines (Chavignol and Silex) and single-vineyard wines (the legendary south-facing slope of Monts Damnés, as well as Le Cul de Beaujeu, famous elsewhere for its whites but planted here with Pinot Noir). The whites are meticulous, refined, and well-balanced; the reds are equally well-crafted.
