"The Redoma 2021, fragrant and elegant (for this wine), shows the freshness of the vintage with a moderate alcohol content of 12% and a fine texture. It is a village wine from very old vineyards in Vale do Tedo, a blend of fields with a lot of Tinta Amarela (but also many others, such as Touriga Franca, Tinta Roriz, Tinta Amarela, Tinto Cão, Rufete, Bastardo...). It was fermented in lagar with whole bunches and aged in very old, large oak vats where it matured for a year. It is spicy and peppery, with some nutty notes, slightly earthy and savory, with structure and tannins, medium-bodied to full-bodied. This is a very important wine for Niepoort, a little more rustic but representing the character of the Douro, somewhat their flagship red (Dirk said: no barrels, lots of stems, a wilder wine). 2024-2034" (Wine Advocate 2024)
