Quinta de la Rosa
The Bergqvist family has been producing Port wines since 1815. Quinta de la Rosa was given to Claire Feuheerd as a baptismal gift in 1906. In 1988, Claire’s granddaughter, Sophia, and her father, Tim Bergqvist, decided to revive the estate with the goal of making it a national benchmark for quality wines.
In the 1990s, Quinta de la Rosa demonstrated the caliber of red wines from the Douro Valley, and in 2002, Jorge Moreira joined the estate as chief winemaker.
Quinta de la Rosa is located on the southeastern bank of the Douro River, in the Cima Corgo region. The vineyards, which are highly diverse, extend from the riverbanks and are planted up to 400 meters above sea level. They grow on schist soil and are, on average, between 30 and 50 years old.
