Domaines Ott
The heart of Provence, bottled in Ott wines
Born from the passion of a young Alsatian agronomist, Marcel Ott, who settled in the heart of Provence’s rolling, inspiring landscapes at the end of the 19th century, Ott wine has been winning over the most discerning palates for over 100 years.
120 years of passion dedicated to excellence
When Marcel Ott settled on the land that would later become the Ott estate, the region’s vineyards were in poor condition. Phylloxera had uprooted high-quality vines from the warm, rich soil of Provence, which then had to be replanted to gradually develop new, delicate, and warm flavors. 120 years later, the challenge has been met with flying colors. The Ott cousins, Christian and Jean-François, are now the worthy heirs to an enduring passion for wine, which they bring to life through Domaine Ott wines —red, white, or rosé—whose flavors and quality remain consistently exceptional.
A trio of complementary fields
The Ott estate’s wine production is divided among three properties. Château de Selle, Marcel Ott’s first acquisition in 1912, is located in Taradeau, near the Abbey of Thoronet. Cabernet Sauvignon, Grenache, Cinsault, and Syrah share its arid, mineral-rich soil. The average age of these vines is 19 years. Clos Mireille, facing the Mediterranean, is bathed in sunshine and sea breezes. Its schist and clay soil, devoid of limestone, produces wines with delicate and refined flavors that will transport you between land and sea. Finally, Château Romassan, located in the Var, sits on hard, dry soil baked by the sun, rich in limestone, sandstone, and marl. From this ungenerous terroir emerge age-worthy Bandol AOC wines, particularly robust and with an inimitable character. The estate’s land, divided into small plots, is home to Mourvèdre, as well as Cinsault, Syrah, and Grenache, whose hardy vines live an average of 25 years.
The wines from these three estates each have their own distinct character, but they share one thing in common: the bottle!
The wines of the Ott estate
The wines of Domaine Ott are easily recognizable by their iconic bottle, designed by Marcel Ott himself in 1930 and inspired by the ancient amphorae that kept wine cool and refreshing. This one-of-a-kind vessel holds wines that will appeal to every palate. Château de Selle produces AOC Côtes de Provence rosé and red wines. The Ott estate’s rosé wine is not limited to this single location; it is also produced at Clos Mireille, where a fresh, supple rosé with citrus notes sits alongside a blanc de blanc with hints of broom. Château Romassan is the heart of a more robust production of red and rosé wines with a lingering finish.
You’ll also find Ott Blanc wines—including rosé and red varieties—as well as wines from the BY O.T.T. collection, made from special grape varieties produced in the new winery at Château de Selle.
Finally, let’s not forget Étoile, the quintessential rosé from the Ott estate, as it is the result of the unique union of the three Ott estates. A union that breaks with winemaking conventions to produce a unique rosé that bursts on the palate, capturing the rigor of the dry soils, the Mediterranean winds, the aridity, and the sunny character of Provence in unique and incredibly balanced aromatic notes. The perfect pairing!
