“Like Rosine’s Viognier, Ogier’s 2020 Condrieu la Combe de Malleval focuses on balance and freshness rather than richness, with an appealing bouquet of fresh flowers, citrus, and stone fruits centered around notes of pineapple. It is labeled at just 12.5% alcohol but shows plenty of body and a silky mouthfeel combined with a lingering, smooth finish.” (Wine Advocate 2022)

Rated estate (2024 guide) 2*Stars (These exceptional estates, often boasting fabulous terroirs, are must-haves that, thanks to their consistency and the excellence of their wines, deserve a place in the cellars of discerning wine lovers)

About the estate:

Since 2014, Stéphane Ogier has been making wine in an ultra-modern winery in Ampuis, where he gives free rein to his creative talent. Of the 18 hectares cultivated by this estate, 3.5 hectares are located on beautiful plots in Côte-Rôtie. Stéphane joined his father Michel in 1997 after studying oenology in Beaune, where he developed a taste for elegance and finesse. The wines are made from partially destemmed grapes (50% whole-cluster in the Lancement cuvée). The precision of recent vintages, the rigorous selection of single-vineyard cuvées, and the style the wines now exhibit place the estate among the elite, with a third star now within reach.
