“ “This Pitchoun, the latest addition to the estate’s Costières lineup, boasts a beautiful bouquet of red fruits and spices. An inviting opening, complemented by notes of licorice, leads to an elegant, full-bodied, smooth, and velvety palate, supported by firm tannins with good aging potential. Full-bodied and fruity.” (Le Guide Hachette des Vins 2017)

Rated estate (2022 guide): 3 stars (High-quality production, setting the standard in its sector)

About the estate:

François Dauvergne and Jean-François Ranvier are part of a new generation of young wine merchants in the Rhône Valley. Deeply involved in the production of their wines, they work closely with their winemaker friends throughout the year to preserve the unique character of each terroir. Their wines are well-structured without being overpowering, with perfectly defined aromas. The duo continues to evolve, and their range extends from Hermitage in the north to the Luberon in the south, passing through Côte-Rôtie, Châteauneuf-du-Pape, and Costières-de-Nîmes, with partnerships now even reaching as far as Roussillon! And recently, the adventure has expanded to the Bordeaux region.

Rated estate (2022 guide) Award-winning wines (This producer’s wines are regularly recognized by the guide)

About the wine:

This Pitchoun, the latest addition to the estate’s Costières lineup, boasts a lovely bouquet of red berries and spices. An inviting opening is complemented by notes of licorice, leading to an elegant, full-bodied, smooth, and velvety palate, supported by firm tannins with good aging potential. Full-bodied and fruity.

About the estate:

Founded in 2004 by François Dauvergne and Jean-François Ranvier—wine professionals who decided to produce their own wines after working for others—this wine merchant has established itself year after year through high-quality wines made from single-vineyard selections. In 2013, the two partners took over the Dom. des Muretins estate (Tavel and Lirac) and, in 2014, developed a range of Bordeaux wines in collaboration with Patrice Hateau.

Not bad; the guests seemed to like it quite a bit. Needs to age for a year; lacks depth.

Not bad for the price—a light, smooth wine.
