"Intense and rich from the first sniff, this vintage combines red fruits, spices, and coriander. Following the same aromatic line, the palate offers a beautiful balance of tannins, alcohol, and freshness, which allows this wine to be enjoyed now, while also allowing it to age well. (Le Guide Hachette des Vins 2016) A great bottle, produced in small quantities on the high slopes of the appellation. Serve now with a nice piece of game or keep for 5 to 6 years.

Rated estate (2022 guide) 3 stars (High-quality production, serving as a benchmark in its sector)

About the estate:

François Dauvergne and Jean-François Ranvier are part of a new generation of young wine merchants in the Rhône Valley. Deeply involved in the production of their wines, they work with their winemaker friends throughout the year and preserve the expressions of the terroirs. The style is structured without excess, with perfect aromatic definition. The duo continues to evolve, and their range extends from Hermitage in the north to Luberon in the south, including Côte-Rôtie, Châteauneuf-du-Pape, and Costières-de-Nîmes, and now even includes partnerships as far afield as Roussillon! Recently, the adventure has expanded to Bordeaux.

Intense and rich from the first sniff, this vintage combines red fruits, spices, and coriander. Following the same aromatic line, the palate offers a beautiful balance of tannins, alcohol, and freshness, allowing this wine to be enjoyed now, while also looking forward to the future with confidence.

About the estate:

Founded in 2004 by François Dauvergne and Jean-François Ranvier, two wine professionals who decided to produce their own vintages after working for others, this wine merchant has gone from strength to strength over the years, producing high-quality wines from selected vineyards. In 2013, the two partners took over the Dom. des Muretins estate (Tavel and Lirac) and in 2014 developed a range of Bordeaux wines in collaboration with Patrice Hateau.

Wine rating (2015 guide) 88-90/100 (Outstanding wine)

Rated Recommended (Wine producer recommended by Robert Parker - The Wine Advocate)

About wine:

Densely colored, the Gigondas Vin Rare 2013 is a blend of Grenache, Syrah, and Mourvèdre, partially aged in oak barrels, which come from high-altitude plots in the eastern part of the appellation. Exhibiting notes of ripe raspberries, violets, licorice, and spices, this rather full-bodied wine is nicely concentrated, with fine tannins revealing themselves on the finish. It can be enjoyed within the year or cellared for around ten years.
