“Power and intensity”

“The succulent, savory flavors of blueberry and blackberry jam are underscored by notes of eucalyptus, iron, and earth in this powerful Syrah from 50-year-old organic vines. Aged for 18 months in large-format barrels, it is a fragrant, vibrant wine framed by soft, supple tannins and subtle acidity. At its peak now and through 2025.” (Wine Enthusiast 2021) Hailing from the Saint-Jaimes plot planted over 50 years ago by Lucie and Nancy’s grandfather, this cuvée movingly conveys all the intensity of the Crozes-Hermitage terroir

Rated Estate (2021 Guide) Selected (An estate or winery that impressed us with one or more of its wines, though we are unable to offer a general assessment of the style of its entire range)

About the estate:

Lucie and Nacy Fourel withdrew their vineyards from the cooperative winery in 2010, the year of their first vintage. Today, their 10 hectares are vinified using native yeasts and without SO2, with more convincing results in their reds than in their whites.

Rated wine (2020 guide) 89–91/100 (Excellent wine)

Estate rated "Recommended" (Wine producer recommended by Robert Parker - The Wine Advocate)

About the wine:

The 2017 Crozes Hermitage Saint-Jaimes offers appealing notes of cedar and menthol alongside its blackberry and blackcurrant fruit. A medium- to full-bodied wine, it is lively and taut on the palate, finishing with chewy tannins. If these soften before the fruit fades, my rating might seem conservative.
