"A refined Syrah"

Selected from the finest barrels of Syrah grapes grown on old vines over 40 years old, the Paul cuvée reflects even more vividly the charms of its terroir—which is even “wilder” and sunnier. Notes of vanilla, licorice, and dry earth give way to a palate of ripe plums, both velvety and full-bodied. Benefiting from a longer maceration, this Vieilles Vignes cuvée perfectly expresses the richness of a distinguished Syrah.

Wine rated 15/20 (2017 vintage) (Very good wine)

Rated estate (2026 guide) 1*Star (A serious, recommendable production that lives up to what one would expect from its appellation(s))

About the estate:

Although this vineyard was founded in 1919, it is the current generation that has really put it on the map. Sébastien Girard has transitioned the twenty or so hectares to biodynamic farming. In the Saviaux and Châssis sectors of Crozes-Hermitage, the grapes ripen well—sometimes a bit too much when global warming comes into play. Thanks to the biodynamic practices implemented here, the wines retain their structure, remaining elegant and fresh, without succumbing to opulence or heaviness.
