Bettane & Desseauve
"A masterpiece!"
This cuvée comes from a small plot of Roussane in the Saint-Joseph AOP, overlooking the winery. The outermost vines are just a few centimeters from the cliff that plunges down onto the estate—a spot that could serve as a launch pad for “a leap of the angel.” The evocative nose, centered on stone fruits, invites the taster to discover a wine that offers beautiful bitter notes on the palate with a remarkable texture.

Wine rated 96/100 (2020 vintage)
Rated estate (2023 guide): 4* Stars (Producers of the very highest quality, the pride of French viticulture)
About the estate:
What a meteoric rise for this up-and-coming winemaker, who has only been in business since 2009. His constant care for his various vineyards and meticulous work in the cellar have enabled him to produce Saint-Joseph, Condrieu, and Côte-Rôtie wines that rank among the best in their respective appellations. In 2020, the Côte-Rôtie Fongeant borders on perfection. The challenge for wine lovers will be to get their hands on a few bottles.

Wine rated 16/20 (2020 vintage) (Very good wine)
Rated estate (2024 guide) 2*Stars (These exceptional estates, often blessed with fabulous terroirs, are must-haves that, thanks to the consistency and excellence of their wines, deserve a place in the cellars of discerning wine lovers)
About the estate:
Founded in 2008, this winery has been making a name for itself year after year. It has gradually expanded without losing sight of its philosophy: to produce wines with a distinct character. For reds, the proportion of whole-cluster fermentation varies depending on the cuvée. High-quality aging processes enhance and refine the wines without making them overly smooth. The whites retain their finesse. The quality and consistency of the entire production are remarkable.
