"A juicy treat that makes it irresistible"

The Preface is an invitation to discover the wines of Pierre-Jean Villa. Made from destemmed grapes and featuring a long maceration, this Saint Joseph offers beautifully precise fruit flavors with subtle peppery and mineral notes. On the palate, it is rich and indulgent with spicy accents and a lovely finish, thanks to its supple and fresh texture. A wonderful introduction! • Please note: quantities are very limited!

Wine rated (2025 guide) 90/100 (2022 vintage)

Rated estate (2023 guide): 4*Stars (Producers of the very highest quality, the pride of French viticulture)

About the estate:

What a meteoric rise for this up-and-coming winemaker, who has been in business since only 2009. The constant care he devotes to his various vineyards and his meticulous work in the cellar have enabled him to produce Saint-Joseph, Condrieu, and Côte-Rôtie wines that rank among the very best in their respective appellations. In 2020, the Côte-Rôtie Fongeant borders on perfection. The real challenge for wine lovers will be to get their hands on a few bottles.

Wine rated (2025 guide) 92/100 (2022 vintage)

Rated Estate (2024 Guide) 2*Stars (These exceptional estates, often boasting fabulous terroirs, are must-haves that, thanks to the consistency and excellence of their wines, deserve a place in the cellars of discerning wine lovers)

About the estate:

Founded in 2008, this winery has been making a name for itself year after year. It has gradually expanded without losing sight of its philosophy: to produce wines with a distinct identity. For reds, the proportion of whole-cluster fermentation varies depending on the cuvée. High-quality aging processes enhance and refine the wines without making them overly smooth. The whites retain their finesse. The quality and consistency of the entire production are remarkable.
