Guide Hachette des vins
Rated estate (2022 guide) Award-winning wines (This producer’s wines regularly receive awards from the guide)
About the estate:
This estate, known for its consistently high-quality wines—particularly its Lirac in all three varieties and its Tavel—was founded in 1950 by Armand Maby. In 2005, his grandson Richard took over the vineyard, which spans 53 hectares, mostly situated on the rounded pebbles of the Vallongue plateau; the vines are cultivated using natural methods and have been in the process of converting to organic farming since 2019. Since 2011, the eminent Rhône oenologist Philippe Cambie has been advising the estate.

I’d describe this Tavel as having matured well. Tasted in May 2014; this is no longer a rosé but a red! Everything is focused on the palate and the body; balance and presence—the structure is there! A beautiful evolution, which is why this AOC—dedicated solely to rosés—is so interesting. A rosé can actually become a wine with aging potential!
