"The great white vintage"

"A blend of 60% Viognier and 40% Grenache Blanc, this richly textured white balances the opulence of oak-fermented Viognier with the peachy freshness of Grenache Blanc. Aromas of vanilla and smoke are prominent on the nose but integrate perfectly on the palate. The finish is subtle and elegant." (Wine Enthusiast 2020)

Wine rated (2020 guide) 15/20 (Very good wine)

Rated estate (2022 guide) 3 stars (High-quality production, serving as a benchmark in its sector)

About wine:

Still displaying fermentation aromas, it already reveals a range of floral and fruity notes, finishing with a hint of spice and aniseed. Not to be missed.

About the estate:

In this historic region of Tavel, the Maby family produces wines of consistent quality that are always honest, pleasant, and full-bodied. Led by the dynamic Richard Maby, the estate continues to progress, with the wines gaining in precision each year. The vineyards are located in the communes of Tavel, the Lirac plateau, and the neighboring Côtes du Rhône. Reasonable prices and consistent quality make this estate a safe bet on the current market for all three colors.

Hachette Wine Guide

Guide Hachette des vins

Rated estate (2022 guide) Award-winning wines (This producer's wines are regularly recognized by the guide)

About the estate:

This estate, renowned for its consistent quality, particularly its Lirac wines in all three colors and its Tavel wines, was founded in 1950 by Armand Maby. In 2005, his grandson Richard took over the reins of the vineyard, 53 hectares located mainly on the rounded pebbles of the Vallongue plateau; the vines are cultivated "naturally" and have been in conversion to organic farming since 2019. Since 2011, the eminent Rhône oenologist Philippe Cambie has been advising the estate.

Wine rating (2019 guide) 90/100 (Outstanding wine)

About wine:

Fermented in barrels and aged, Maby's Lirac Blanc Casta Diva 2018 is composed of approximately two-thirds Viognier and one-third Grenache. Notes of apricot and white pepper mark the nose, while the fairly rich palate is fleshy and silky, revealing a touch of astringency on the finish.

About wine:

A blend of 60% Viognier and 40% Grenache Blanc, this richly textured white wine balances the opulence of oak-fermented Viognier with the peachy freshness of Grenache Blanc. Aromas of vanilla and smoke are prominent on the nose but integrate perfectly on the palate. The finish is subtle and elegant. It is at its peak now, but should be drinkable until 2024.

Wine rated 93/100

About wine:

Deep, brilliant gold color. Refined nose with toasty vanilla oak notes on a background of almond, white flowers, and mountain plants. Firm flavors from dense, richly textured fruit, with a smooth, salty finish and successful aging. Superb.
