Domaine Maby
Domaine Maby, after several generations of winemakers, remains a family estate, located in the very birthplace of Côtes du Rhône, just north of Avignon. The estate's sixty hectares are spread over three appellations - Tavel, Lirac, Côtes du Rhône - and Vins de Pays des Coteaux de Cèze.
Domaine Maby is committed to environmentally-friendly viticulture, and has signed a Sustainable Agriculture contract. Tavel and Lirac share the same terroir of rolled pebbles as Châteauneuf du Pape. These pebbles, plucked from the Alps by the impetuous Rhône River in prehistoric times, enable the grapes to reach perfect ripeness, storing heat during the day and releasing it at night.
Domaine Maby 's Tavel is made from nine grape varieties, dominated by Grenache and Cinsault, which give this famous rosé its fruity, spicy character. Low-temperature vatting for one or two days gives it a shimmering color ranging from light rosé to ruby, and very supple tannins that give it great ageing potential. Slow, low-temperature fermentation preserves all the fruitiness of this wine. Domaine Maby 's red Lirac is a blend of Grenache, Syrah and Mourvèdre. The white Lirac is a blend of Grenache, Clairette and Picpoul. The Grenache brings a pronounced fruity character (apricot, pear), the Clairette roundness, and the Picpoul freshness, giving this wine great balance and ageing potential.

The steady work of the domaine and its manager, Richard Maby , was rewarded in 2021 by the Guide Hachette, which named him Winemaker of the Year 2021 in the southern Rhône Valley.
