About the estate:

Founded in Vingrau in 2002 by Jacques Castany and Pascal Dieumidou, this winery received valuable advice from the start from their neighbor’s winemaker, Hervé Bizeul (Clos des Fées). In 2004, the estate’s reputation took off thanks to Decanter magazine. However, even today, the two remain part-time winemakers, despite their 10 hectares under production. The winery, housed in an old garage, remains simple yet efficient. All of the wines are very well made, establishing the estate as a sure bet in the Roussillon region.

About the estate:

Jacques Castany worked in the transportation industry, and Pascal Dieunidou worked in IT. In 2002, they launched their winemaking venture in a tiny winery. It has been a success, as evidenced by their already impressive track record. The 10-hectare vineyard is located in Vingrau, facing a magnificent cirque dominated by limestone.

A dazzling harmony between an intense concentration of explosive red fruits, tinged with a subtle spicy note, and a sustained mineral freshness. The palate, lively and easy to drink, is lined with full-bodied yet round, caressing tannins, evolving into a finish of great aromatic persistence. Maximum indulgence and smoothness at a minimum price! We enjoyed it to the fullest, savoring the purity of the fruit—without any oak—during an evening with friends over cold tapas featuring Catalan chorizo, and later as a pairing with red mullet fillets and a compote of red peppers with basil. Rating = 4.1.
