Domaine de l'Edre

Created in 2002, Domaine de l'Edre was taken over in part and then in full by Pierre Laporte, son, son-in-law and cousin of Catalan winegrowers. He returned to his homeland after a career as an engineer in the space industry, with a single goal in mind: to help perpetuate the excellence and reputation of the Domaine's wines. Mediterranean influences, the tramontana wind from the north, clay-limestone soils, altitude (around 300m) and varied exposure enable him to produce complex, fruity, powerful and well-balanced wines. The vines are cultivated using sustainable methods (organic fertilizers, ploughing and inter-tilling, treatments based on products bearing the organic label) and very low yields, tending towards organic farming. The grapes are harvested by hand, in successive sortings. After total de-stemming and pre-fermentation cold maceration, they are fermented with indigenous yeasts in temperature-controlled stainless steel vats, or in demi-muids for the L'Edre cuvée. His wines are the object of his undivided attention, which has earned them a warm welcome from French and foreign customers, as well as from the specialized press.
