Domaine de l'Edre

Founded in 2002, Domaine de l’Edre was first partially and then fully taken over by Pierre Laporte, the son, son-in-law, and cousin of Catalan winemakers. He returned to his homeland after a career as an engineer in the space industry with a single goal: to help uphold the excellence and reputation of the estate’s wines. Mediterranean influences, the north wind (Tramontane), clay-limestone soils, the altitude (approximately 300 meters), and varied exposures allow him to craft complex, fruity, powerful, and balanced wines. He practices sustainable viticulture (organic fertilizers, plowing and inter-row cultivation, treatments using certified organic products) and maintains very low yields, moving toward organic farming. The grapes are harvested by hand in successive passes. After complete destemming and cold pre-fermentation maceration, they ferment, using indigenous yeasts, in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks or in demi-muids for the L’Edre cuvée. He devotes his full attention to his wines, which has earned them a very warm reception from French and international customers as well as from the specialized press.
