About wine:
The dry Maury Les Salines 2022, a single vineyard selection composed of Grenache and Carignan, is a beautiful wine for aging, powerful with thick tannins, yet remaining digestible, with a beautiful underlying dynamism and very precise fruit.
About the estate:
The Soulanes estate was created in 2002 by Cathy and Daniel Laffite in the Maury region. The couple had previously worked on these same terroirs for over ten years alongside the former owner before acquiring part of the property. The vineyards are located at the foot of the rocky peaks dominated by the Château de Queribus. The estate's wines are full-bodied yet balanced, energetic and intense.

Note and opinion by Mr. GILLES D. Published on 11/20/2024
A wine of character, the Les Salines cuvée impresses with its increase in quality over recent vintages. The soft and fresh attack opens up a sunny, full palate where the power, energy, and crisp fruitiness of black cherry and blackberry are expressed without restraint, intertwined with notes of spice and an underlying earthy touch. The firm, silky texture of the tannins gives a pleasant sensation of thickness and smoothness. The mineral terroir is reflected in the slight saline tension on the finish. A beautiful wine for aging, but already accessible now, for example with a Catalan-style oven-roasted saddle of milk-fed lamb (rancio+cognac sauce) and white rice. Rating: ÷ 4.1.
