Maury Sec
The small vineyard of Maury is the northernmost of the Roussillon vineyards, located primarily across the 1,000 hectares of the commune of Maury and in certain localities within neighboring communes. The appellation thus encompasses four communes in the Pyrénées-Orientales department, northwest of Perpignan: Maury, Tautavel, Saint-Paul de Fenouillet, and Rasiguères.
Sheltered to the north by the Corbières mountain range and to the south by the steep foothills of the Pyrenees, the vineyard of Maury forms a natural corridor stretching 17 km in length and 4 km in width. Of the 1,000 hectares of black soil within the appellation (Aptian schist, unmetamorphosed and often weathered), 90% are planted with Grenache Noir, supplemented by Carignan, Syrah, Mourvèdre, and occasionally Lledoner Pelut.

In 2011, the Vignerons de Maury cooperative winery secured an extension of the Maury appellation to include Maury Sec.
