Bettane & Desseauve
Rated estate (2023 guide) 3*Stars (High-quality production, setting the standard in its sector)
About the estate:
The Magnins are among the most iconic figures in the Savoy wine region. These two dedicated winemakers, who have been certified organic since 2012, decided to downsize the estate to three hectares starting with the 2018 harvest. While their selection is small, both their white and red wines are truly exquisite.

Rated estate (2023 guide) 1*Star (Up-and-coming stars or quality winemakers producing wines of a high standard—you won’t be disappointed when tasting the wines from these estates)
About the wine:
The Grand Orgue vintage surprises with its vigor, its intensity, its tight structure bordering on austerity, its lively acidity, and the freshness of its fruit, which comes alive upon aeration.
About the estate:
This artisanal estate has played a pivotal role in the contemporary history of the Savoyard vineyards. Although the vineyard area has shrunk, meticulous work—both in the vineyard and in the cellar—enables Louis Magnin to achieve exceptional expression in both reds and whites. A perfectionist, he demonstrates a consistency across his various vintages that few producers in this region can match. Less opulent than in the past, the whites emphasize mineral intensity. Among the Mondeuses—flamboyant yet meant for aging—we continue to prefer (often, though not this year!) the vintages aged in tanks over those aged in barrels.

An intoxicating nose, wonderful liveliness, a light crispness, and a delicate almond finish. All this at a very reasonable price, especially considering the challenging Savoyard terroir. Remarkable!
