Wine rated 89/100

Rated estate (2023 guide): 3*Stars (High-quality production that serves as a benchmark in its sector)

About the wine:

The initial nose is quite restrained, yet it offers an immediate, luscious burst of fruit and flavor; the wine’s approachable character delivers genuine pleasure—it’s easy to drink and perfect for any wine bar or bistro. It has a lovely body on the palate, with peppery notes, juiciness, and a savory finish that stays true to its character. A real success.

About the estate:

The Magnins are among the most iconic figures in the Savoyard wine region. These two dedicated winemakers, who have been farming under certified organic practices since 2012, decided to reduce the size of their estate to three hectares starting with the 2018 harvest. While their lineup is small, both their white and red wines are truly beautiful.

Wine rated (2023 guide) 91/100

Rated Winery (2023 Guide) 1*Star (Up-and-coming stars or high-quality winemakers producing wines of a high standard—you won’t be disappointed when you taste the wines from these wineries)

About the wine:

We also recommend waiting for the iconic 2018 Mondeuse Fille d'Arbin—vigorous, concentrated, and well-structured—which has become more reserved since its dazzling youth.

About the estate:

This artisanal estate has played a pivotal role in the contemporary history of the Savoyard vineyards. Although the area under cultivation has decreased, meticulous work—both in the vineyard and in the cellar—allows Louis Magnin to achieve exceptional expression in both reds and whites. A perfectionist, he demonstrates through his various vintages a consistency that few producers in this region can match. Less opulent than in the past, the whites emphasize mineral intensity. Among the Mondeuses—flamboyant but meant for aging—we continue to prefer (often, though not this year!) the cuvées aged in tanks over those aged in barrels.
