“This is a fairly smooth and austere wine, yet it’s bursting with the aromas of spring flowers and apples freshly picked from the tree. The finish is incredibly lively, with the freshness of a mountain stream. Just 10.5% alcohol! Drink now.” (James Suckling 2022)

Wine rated (2022 guide) 92/100 (An outstanding wine)

Rated estate (2021 guide) Recommended (Wine producer recommended by Robert Parker - The Wine Advocate)

About the wine:

The 2020 Wehlener Klosterberg Kabinett Riesling (white capsule) offers aromas of ripe, juicy white peach—bright and delicately concentrated—interwoven with fresh, slate-like notes. Dense and straightforward on the palate, this is a lean, taut, salty, and gripping Riesling that is far too young to be enjoyed before 2025 or perhaps even 2030. From a hot vintage, this is a Kabinett from a cool climate with an alcohol content of 10.5% but an intense flavor. Natural cork. Tasted at the estate in July 2022.
