Domaine Anita - Beaujolais Villages Coteau de Malval 2023
93/100
James Suckling
“An extraordinary Beaujolais-Villages (Suckling)”
“An extraordinary Beaujolais-Villages and an extraordinary 2023 vintage with a depth that must be tasted to be believed. This, combined with an explosion of stony minerality on the palate and extreme concentration, makes this a breathtaking Beaujolais. The only slight drawback is that you have to like acidity, as the finish is quite lively.” (James Suckling 2024).

Rated estate (2023 guide): 2 stars (A solid, recommendable wine, though slightly more consistent and uniform than the previous vintage)
About the estate:
Originally from Bresse, Anita Khunel, after a brilliant career as a road cyclist (she competed in the World Championships in Slovenia in 1996!), decided to return to the family estate that same year. There, she learned the craft of viticulture and winemaking before founding her own winery in 2015: Domaine Anita. Today, the estate encompasses six appellations: Moulin-à-Vent, Chénas, Morgon, Fleurie, Beaujolais, and Beaujolais-Villages. Known for her structured style, Anita Kuhnel achieves greater precision and balance with each passing year. 2017 is a resounding success. We’re not far from that third star!
