“This Chenas offers deep red fruit on the palate with a medium body that could be described as charming, but it then shifts into high gear as the fine tannins develop steadily, with notes of licorice and dry earth that add nice complexity to the precise finish.” (James Suckling 2024)

Bettane & Desseauve
Rated estate (2023 guide): 2 stars (A solid, recommendable wine, though slightly more consistent and uniform than the previous vintage)
About the estate:
Originally from Bresse, Anita Khunel, after a brilliant career as a road cyclist (she competed in the World Championships in Slovenia in 1996!), decided to return to the family estate that same year. There, she learned the craft of viticulture and winemaking before founding her own winery in 2015: Domaine Anita. Today, the estate encompasses six appellations: Moulin-à-Vent, Chénas, Morgon, Fleurie, Beaujolais, and Beaujolais-Villages. Known for her structured style, Anita Kuhnel achieves greater precision and balance with each passing year. 2017 is a resounding success. We’re not far from that third star!
