“This cuvée, produced from a 5-hectare vineyard entirely managed by the estate and planted with vines around sixty years old, is vinified using whole clusters. It captivates with its balance, length, and mineral character. It develops pure notes of fresh red fruits, particularly cherry and redcurrant. A full-bodied and complex Chénas. ” (Le Guide Hachette 2024)

About the wine:
This cuvée is produced from a 5-hectare vineyard—entirely managed by the estate and planted with vines around sixty years old—and is vinified using whole clusters. About the estate:
Located on the border between Burgundy and Beaujolais, this château takes its name from Sieur Bonnet, a councilman of the city of Mâcon, who built a manor house there in 1630 where Lamartine later stayed. Acquired by the Perrachon family in 1973, the estate comprises 22 hectares of vineyards. Pierre-Yves Perrachon, who has led the estate since 1988, was joined in 2013 by his daughter Charlotte, an enologist. He has also partnered with a winemaker from the Mâconnais region to expand his operations through a wine merchant firm, Bourgogne Sélect.

Fresh and wonderfully juicy, Le Clos delights the palate with the spontaneity of its sparkling fruit and spicy notes, enhanced by a mineral backbone that lends it a refined and lively character. It is supported by tannins that are still slightly pronounced, softened by refined aging. The finish is clean and firm. It is already quite delicious and has great depth, though it would benefit from a little patience to gain more suppleness. This young Chénas paired well with a salted pork dish served with Puy-en-Velay lentils. Rating = 4.
