Domaine de la Soufrandière

The Domaine de la Soufrandière, a historic estate located in Vinzelles in the southern Mâconnais region, was acquired in 1947 by A.J. Bret. At that time, the Domaine de la Soufrandière’s vineyard covered just one hectare, planted with AOC Pouilly-Vinzelles “Les Quarts.” A.J. Bret began expanding the vineyard, a project continued by Jean-Paul Bret, the third of A.J. and Louise Bret’s four children.

Since 2000, the Domaine de la Soufrandière has been jointly managed by Jean-Guillaume and Jean-Philippe Bret, a talented duo who prioritize farming practices that are as close to nature as possible. Both at La Soufrandière—where the vineyard is ECOCERT-certified organic—and through their wine trading business (Bret Brothers), they work in partnership with passionate winemakers who are attuned to their terroir. An exceptional southeast-facing slope where some of the oldest Chardonnay vines grow, combined with a living clay-limestone soil rich in silica crystals, gives rise to the unique “Les Quarts” cuvée from Domaine de la Soufrandière.
