“What Yves Vatelot has achieved in this region is remarkable, given that the wine is classified only as Bordeaux Supérieur. A blend of Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon, this superb 2006 vintage boasts an impressive deep purple color and a bouquet of blackcurrant, spring flowers, toasted oak, and forest floor aromas. Medium-bodied to full-bodied, richly fruity and pure, with an alluring texture and good length, it is best enjoyed within 5 to 10 years.” (Wine Advocate - Robert Parker)

About the wine:
What Yves Vatelot has achieved in this field is remarkable, given that he is limited to the Bordeaux Supérieur appellation. A blend of Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon, this superb 2006 vintage boasts an impressive deep purple color and a bouquet of blackcurrant, spring flowers, toasted oak, and forest floor. Medium-bodied to full-bodied, richly fruity and pure, with an alluring texture and good length, it is best enjoyed within 5 to 10 years.

Wine rated (2010 guide) 16,5/20 (Very good wine)
Rated estate (2023 guide) Selected (Please note that this guide is a ranking, and as such, all the estates listed here—even those without a star—represent, in our view, the pinnacle of French winemaking.)
About the wine:
Both the white and red 2006 vintages live up to expectations: well-structured, elegantly oaked, and full-bodied.
About the estate:
This year, Yves and Stéphanie Vatelot celebrated their 30th anniversary at the helm of Reignac. From the very beginning, the couple has gone all out to position their Bordeaux Supérieurs at the highest level, following the advice of Michel Roland. With the arrival of director Nicolas Lesaint in 2009, viticultural practices have evolved to align more closely with organic methods. This work is beginning to show in the wines, despite aging that is still somewhat intrusive. Extractions are more precise thanks to six small truncated-cone vats designed to match the specific characteristics of each vineyard plot.

I'm very disappointed with this wine! I was expecting smoother tannins and a more pronounced fruit profile.

There's a lot of marketing hype surrounding this Bordeaux Supérieur, but it's still just a Bordeaux Supérieur. It's no big deal!

Very good. I don't know if it can rival the big names of Bordeaux (as in the famous tasting), but it offers excellent value for the price. I haven't tasted the 2009 yet.

A bit too much tannin extraction. The aromas are very ripe, and the wine has a lot of power. Probably too early to drink it.
