"By keeping yields at Cru Classé levels (35 hectoliters per hectare) and using high-quality oak, Vatelot is able to produce a wine that far exceeds its humble origins. The 2012 is a serious, structured wine with a deep ruby/purple color, excellent concentration, impressive purity, superb integration of new oak, and a long finish. It is a major value of the vintage, to be enjoyed over the next 10 years.” (Wine Advocate - Robert Parker)

About the wine:
We tasted the 2012 vintages: [...] the flagship wine, powerful yet refined, lush, robust, and built for aging.
About the estate:
Yves and Stéphanie Vatelot are part of a generation of business leaders who became winemakers some twenty years ago. They have significantly enhanced the potential of this estate, both in the vineyard and in the cellars. With the guidance of Michel Rolland, they produce red and white wines of exemplary quality and consistency, which rank them among the appellation’s leading producers.

Wine rated (2016 guide) 15,5/20 (Very good)
About the wine:
A beautiful, woody, spicy nose with notes of ripe black fruit. Smooth on the palate, with well-integrated, structuring tannins, good body, and a long finish. A well-rounded wine.

Wine rated (2015 guide) 16/20 (Very good wine)
Rated estate (2023 guide) Selected (Please note that this guide is a ranking, and as such, all the estates listed here—even those without a star—represent, in our view, the pinnacle of French winemaking.)
About the wine:
The 2012 vintage is rich, with the characteristics of its aging still evident and a lovely level of maturity on the palate.
About the estate:
This year, Yves and Stéphanie Vatelot celebrated their 30th anniversary at the helm of Reignac. From the very beginning, the couple has gone all out to position their Bordeaux Supérieurs at the highest level, following the advice of Michel Roland. With the arrival of director Nicolas Lesaint in 2009, viticultural practices have evolved to align more closely with organic methods. This work is beginning to show in the wines, despite aging that is still somewhat intrusive. Extractions are more precise thanks to six small truncated-cone vats designed to match the specific characteristics of each vineyard plot.
