"One of Jadot's finest Beaunes—a bottle for lovers of exceptional wines, ready to drink!"

“An intense nose of blackberry and Amarena cherry, followed by a full-bodied and powerful palate worthy of a Beaune. The perfectly balanced tannins provide just enough acidity to invigorate the palate, while the tannic structure strongly asserts a clean and vibrant finish. Made from organically grown grapes. Ready to drink now or for aging. ” (James Suckling 2022)

Rated estate (2025 guide): 4*Stars (Producers of the very highest quality, the pride of French viticulture)

About the estate:

The Gagey family’s involvement with this true gem of Burgundy’s historical heritage began upon the death of Louis-Auguste Jadot. With no heir, the estate was entrusted in 1962 to André Gagey, who remained its manager until 1991, when he handed the reins to his son Pierre-Henry, who now oversees the 225 hectares of vineyards. Since 2011, winemaking has been overseen by Frédéric Barnier, who has seamlessly succeeded Jacques Lardière, further improving the consistency and uniformity of all the vintages. The white wines are pneumatically pressed and fermented directly in barrels, where they are aged on the lees with periodic stirring for 12 to 20 months. The red wines are vinified with the stems removed but without crushing, without cold pre-fermentation, and undergo a vatting period of 25 to 27 days before beginning their aging for 12 to 22 months in barrels, one-third of which are new.

Wine rated (2021 guide) 92/100

About the wine:

Aux Cras is located along the Route de Bouze, a cooler site that, in 2020, produced an elegant wine with fresh, lively notes of cherry and flowers, as well as a hint of spice. 2025–2040

Wine rated (2022 guide) 92–94/100 (Excellent wine)

Estate rated "Recommended" (Wine producer recommended by Robert Parker—The Wine Advocate)

About the wine:

The 2020 Beaune 1er Cru Aux Cras (Domaine Gagey) is also very promising. When aerated, it reveals aromas of raspberry, orange zest, clove, and vanilla. With a beautiful structure—both full-bodied and velvety—and lively, refreshing acidity, it offers perfect balance. On paper, this terroir should struggle in dry vintages, but the old vines at Jadot (formerly owned by Château de Chorey) have nonetheless produced an excellent result.

Rated estate (2022 guide) 1*Star (Up-and-coming stars or high-quality winemakers producing wines of a high standard—you won’t be disappointed when you taste the wines from these estates)

About the estate:

This prestigious wine merchant is run with great efficiency by Pierre-Henry Gagey, who is deeply involved in Burgundy. The company boasts an exceptionally extensive range and a superb collection of terroirs, including the major Burgundian appellations. Frédéric Barnier, who has been in charge of winemaking since 2012, is gradually making his mark by refining the wines. Consistency is one of this house’s strengths. While the whites display lovely balance, the reds are austere and severe, with oak notes that dominate the fruit—and even hints of acetate that, this year, make it difficult to assess certain vintages. Let’s hope this is only temporary, as the company’s reputation is at stake.

Wine rated (2021 guide) 16,5/20

About the wine:

A vibrant cherry-red color. An intensely aromatic nose of dark red fruits. A vivid contrast between the sweetness of the fruit and a fresh, almost sweet-and-sour acidity, with a hint of vanilla. Lots of energy. Truly fresh and indulgent, with chalky tannins contributing to this freshness. Juicy and delicious, with good length on the palate and a finish of remarkable freshness. 2024–2034
