"This vintage from Jadot offers great aging potential and brilliantly combines power and finesse: absolutely sublime."

“Ripe and full-bodied, this powerful red wine reflects the rich aromas of black cherry and blackcurrant from an exceptionally ripe vintage, as well as the freshness and deep minerality characteristic of Clos Vougeot. Delicate and fragrant, yet full-bodied and generous on the palate, this wine still needs time to fully develop. Best enjoyed starting in 2025. It should continue to improve through 2040 and age well beyond that.” (Wine Enthusiast 2022) • Delivery in a wooden case is available for orders of 6 bottles of this wine (depending on the country and selected shipping method)

Rated estate (2025 guide): 4*Stars (Producers of the very highest quality, the pride of French viticulture)

About the estate:

The Gagey family’s involvement with this true gem of Burgundy’s historical heritage began upon the death of Louis-Auguste Jadot. With no heir, the estate was entrusted in 1962 to André Gagey, who remained its manager until 1991, when he handed the reins to his son Pierre-Henry, who now oversees the 225 hectares of vineyards. Since 2011, winemaking has been overseen by Frédéric Barnier, who has seamlessly succeeded Jacques Lardière, further improving the consistency and uniformity of all the vintages. The white wines are pneumatically pressed and fermented directly in barrels, where they are aged on the lees with periodic stirring for 12 to 20 months. The red wines are vinified with the stems removed but without crushing, without cold pre-fermentation, and undergo a vatting period of 25 to 27 days before beginning their aging for 12 to 22 months in barrels, one-third of which are new.

Rated estate (2022 guide) 1*Star (Up-and-coming stars or high-quality winemakers producing wines of a high standard—you won’t be disappointed when you taste the wines from these estates)

About the estate:

This prestigious wine merchant is run with great efficiency by Pierre-Henry Gagey, who is deeply involved in Burgundy. The company boasts an exceptionally extensive range and a superb collection of terroirs, including the major Burgundian appellations. Frédéric Barnier, who has been in charge of winemaking since 2012, is gradually making his mark by refining the wines. Consistency is one of this house’s strengths. While the whites display lovely balance, the reds are austere and severe, with oak notes that dominate the fruit—and even hints of acetate that, this year, make it difficult to assess certain vintages. Let’s hope this is only temporary, as the company’s reputation is at stake.

Wine rated (2022 guide) 95/100 (Exceptional wine)

About the wine:

Still somewhat monolithic at this stage, this red wine is dense and rich in aromas of black cherry, blueberry, minerals, and spices. Although compact and understated, it reveals its full potential in a long, well-defined finish that echoes the intense notes of fruit and spices. Firm yet refined tannins round out the profile. Best enjoyed between 2026 and 2045.

About the wine:

A fresh and lively Clos Vougeot, despite its remarkable power and concentration. An abundance of fine tannins gives it an imposing presence on the palate and elegantly supports a clean, vibrant finish. Excellent aging potential. Ready to drink now, but will reach its peak starting in 2023.
