“A lovely, approachable, and charming Burgundy white!”

“Crafted by the fifth generation of the Laurent Delaunay family, Septembre is a blend comprising roughly one-third Côte d’Or, Mâconnais (for richness), and Yonne (for freshness and mineral notes). A wine with abundant floral notes, while the palate is concentrated and complex, featuring a delightful combination of stone fruits offset by hints of lime zest. The lively acidity and stony finish make this a lovely entry-level Burgundy Chardonnay.” (Decanter 2023)

Rated 3 stars (A high-quality product that serves as a benchmark in its sector)

About the estate:

More than just a new release, it’s a rebirth. The return of this historic winery is a welcome sight. The man who brought it back to life is Laurent Delaunay. He is the great-grandson of the founder and has established himself as a leading figure in the world of approachable Languedoc wines in the mass market. It is in Burgundy, on his own land, that he once again demonstrates the full extent of his talent and vision. We particularly recommend the Nuits-Saint-Georges vintages, vinified with extreme care and a focus on tannin extraction that yields voluptuous, tender wines that are always well-structured. The entire range is impeccable.

About the estate:

Laurent and Catherine Delaunay, founders of the Badet-Clément wine house in Nuits-Saint-Georges, have revived the Édouard Delaunay wine merchant firm, founded in 1893 by Laurent’s great-grandfather. It offers a range of wines primarily from the Côte de Beaune and the Côte de Nuits, ranging from regional appellations to grand cru.

Jancis Robinson

Jancis Robinson

Wine rated (2021 guide) 16/20

About the wine:

A pleasant nose of peach and hazelnut. Juicy, full-bodied fruit—peach, orange, cantaloupe—nicely defined by the acidity. This wine offers excellent balance, a pleasant mid-palate, and a clean finish. This Chardonnay is more successful than its Pinot Noir counterpart. It also offers much better value for the price.
