The 2021 Hautes-Côtes de Nuits Charmont white is very expressive and intense on the nose, with hints of nougatine and candied chestnut, followed by green notes. Its pronounced minerality, combined with subtle oak, reveals aromas of flint, gunflint, and heather. On the palate, the attack is fresh, with lovely acidity and pastry-like aromas. There’s also a lovely salinity on the finish. This complex, long-finishing wine, with its beautiful freshness, will perfectly complement bouchées à la reine—whether they’re made with fish or not...

About the estate:
More than just a new release, it’s a rebirth. The return of this historic estate is a welcome sight. The man who brought it back to life is Laurent Delaunay. He is the great-grandson of the founder and has established himself as a leading figure in the world of approachable Languedoc wines in the mass market. It is in Burgundy, on his own land, that he once again demonstrates the full extent of his talent and vision. We particularly recommend the Nuits-Saint-Georges vintages, vinified with extreme care and a focus on tannin extraction that yields voluptuous, tender wines that are always well-structured. The entire range is impeccable.

About the estate:
Laurent and Catherine Delaunay, founders of the Badet-Clément wine house in Nuits-Saint-Georges, have revived the Édouard Delaunay wine merchant firm, founded in 1893 by Laurent’s great-grandfather. It offers a range of wines primarily from the Côte de Beaune and the Côte de Nuits, ranging from regional appellations to grand cru.
