Laroche Estates
Domaines Laroche, owned by the Laroche family , has been producing and crafting Chablis wines since 1850. Michel Laroche, representing the fifth generation, joined the family estate in 1967 to carry on the tradition and continue the work begun by his predecessors. From six hectares in the late 1960s, Domaines Laroche’s vineyard now spans over 100 hectares.

In Chablis, the quality of the soils in the Kimmeridgian geological formation contains just the right amount of limestone to impart a mineral character, the gravel necessary for good drainage, clay in the subsoil to retain sufficient water, and finally, good sun exposure in a region that rarely suffers from excessive heat. At Domaines Laroche, all the elements come together to produce great Chardonnay wines. Harvesting takes place at full ripeness, but care is taken not to over-ripen the grapes in order to preserve the freshness of the Chardonnay’s aromas. Low-pressure pneumatic presses preserve the quality of the grapes. The Petits Chablis and Chablis from Domaines Laroche are generally bottled starting in April, while the Premiers and Grands Crus are aged for 11 to 14 months to perfect their maturation.
