top-notch

The 2018 Les Combes offers a fresh, airy, and elegant nose—typical of the Côte de Nuits—with aromas of black cherry and spices. It has a magnificent attack on the palate, velvety and full-bodied, with a perfect balance between ripeness and acidity. There are notes of dark fruit, wild plums, bark, hazelnut, and coffee, as well as hints of spice, incense, beeswax, and dark chocolate, with tannins that are still firm but will soften with time... Superb!

About the estate:

More than just a new venture—it’s a rebirth. The return of this long-established winery is a welcome development. The man who revived it is Laurent Delaunay. He is the great-grandson of the founder and has established himself as a leading figure in the world of approachable Languedoc wines in the mass market. It is in Burgundy, on his own vineyards, that he once again demonstrates the full extent of his talent and vision. We particularly recommend the Nuits-Saint-Georges vintages, vinified with extreme care and a focus on tannin extraction that yields voluptuous, supple wines that are always well-structured. The entire range is impeccable.

About the estate:

It offers a range of wines primarily from the Côte de Beaune and the Côte de Nuits, ranging from regional appellations to grand cru wines.
