Côte de Nuits-Villages
The Côte de Nuits-Villages appellation is common to several villages in the Côte d'Or department. Côte de Nuits covers an area of around 150 hectares, in whole or in part, in the communes of Brochon, Fixin, Prémeaux, Comblanchien and Corgoloin. Côte de Nuits-Villages wines have benefited from the appellation since 1964, remarkably represented by Maison Louis Jadot and Domaine Joseph Drouhin.

Adjoining the Côte de Beaune vineyards, the vineyards of the Côte de Nuits-Villages appellation are mainly planted on clay-limestone soils: the slopes of Comblanchien and Corgoloin are underlain by gravelly limestone from the Upper Bathonian. To the north of Côte de Nuits-Villages, entrobic limestone is more common.

Côte de Nuits-Villages wines are made almost exclusively from red Pinot Noir grapes, and from white Chardonnay grapes. Production of the latter is marginal in terms of quantity. Côte de Nuits reds are wines of assertive character, not devoid of fruitiness and a certain roundness, while the whites capture all the richness and aromatic depth so characteristic of Chardonnay.
