"Between refinement and intensity... The phoenix of these vineyards!"

"This is the heart of the Grand Cru. With an intense, subtly fragrant nose, it has benefited from well-chosen aging that blends gently with the elements of the wine. It is extremely refined, with a delicacy that goes far beyond the archetype of Échezeaux." (Le Guide Bettane + Desseauve)

Wine rated 97/100

Rated estate (2021 guide) 4 stars (Producers of very high quality, the pride of French vineyards)

About wine:

This is the heart of the Grand Cru. With an intense, subtly fragrant nose, it has benefited from carefully chosen aging that blends gently with the elements of the wine. It is extremely refined, with a delicacy that goes far beyond the archetype of Échezeaux.

About the estate:

Run by the Devillard family, who also own Château de Chamirey in Mercurey, the vineyard is located on remarkable terroirs in the southern Côte de Nuits, and its production is vinified in the spirit of modern wines, seeking high grape maturity and deep, voluptuous textures. The results have been convincing for several years now, starting with the communal appellations, with very fine juices where we used to know them as rather solid. All the fullness possible in 2018 has been captured here, and these will be wines for aging, even very long aging for the Nuits and Echezeaux. Also a delightful red Burgundy.
