Rated estate (2021 guide): 4*Stars (Producers of the very highest quality—the pride of French viticulture)
About the estate:
Operated by the Devillard family—which also owns Château de Chamirey in Mercurey—the vineyard is situated on remarkable terroirs in the southern part of the Côte de Nuits, and its grapes are vinified in the spirit of modern wines, seeking high ripeness and deep, voluptuous textures. The results have been impressive in recent years, even among the village-level appellations, with wines featuring very refined juices—a departure from the more robust styles we were accustomed to. The 2018 vintage has captured all its possible richness here; these will be wines with aging potential, and the Nuits and Échézeaux vintages will age exceptionally well. There is also a delightful red Burgundy.
