Echezeaux
Echezeaux, along with Grand Echezeaux, is one of two Grand Cru appellations in the small village of Flagey-Echezeaux, granted in 1937. The appellation is part of the Côte de Nuits vineyard, located on the plain between Vougeot and Vosne-Romanée. The Echezeaux Grands Crus, like the Clos de Vougeot, which is separated from it by a wall, were founded by the Abbey of Cîteaux in the 12th and 13th centuries. The 36 hectares of the Echezeaux appellation allow for only a small but high-quality production.

The Echezeaux Grand Cru vineyards are planted on clay-limestone soils facing east and southeast at an altitude of between 240 and 340 meters. Generally, wines from this appellation can be drunk fairly young, but their dense texture and tight grain fully blossom after 4 to 5 years of aging. Made exclusively from Pinot Noir grapes, Echezeaux Grand Cru red wines have aromas of violet and cherry.

The Echezeaux appellation is synonymous with exceptional terroirs enhanced by the work of estates offering excellent vintages, such as Domaine de la Perdrix, Domaine Charlopin-Parizot, Domaine Méo-Camuzet, and Domaine de la Romanée-Conti.
