Echezeaux
Echezeaux is, along with Grand Echezeaux, one of the two Grand Cru appellations of the small village of Flagey-Echezeaux, granted in 1937. The appellation is part of the Côte de Nuits wine region, situated on the plain between Vougeot and Vosne-Romanée. The Echezeaux Grand Crus, like the Clos de Vougeot—which is separated from it by a wall—date back to the 12th and 13th centuries as part of the foundations of the Abbey of Cîteaux. The 36 hectares of the Echezeaux appellation allow for a production that is as limited as it is high-quality.

The Echezeaux Grand Cru vineyards are planted on east- and southeast-facing clay-limestone soils at an altitude ranging from 240 to 340 meters. Generally, wines from this appellation can be enjoyed fairly young, but their dense texture and tight structure fully unfold after 4 to 5 years of aging. Made exclusively from Pinot Noir grapes, Echezeaux Grand Cru red wines feature aromas of violet and cherry.

The Echezeaux appellation is synonymous with exceptional terroirs enhanced by the work of estates producing excellent wines, such as Domaine de la Perdrix, Domaine Charlopin-Parizot, Domaine Méo-Camuzet, and Domaine de la Romanée-Conti.
