About the wine:
Here we are at the heart of the Grand Cru. With an intense, subtly fragrant bouquet, it has benefited from carefully selected aging that blends seamlessly with the wine’s components. It displays great finesse and a delicacy that goes far beyond the archetype of Échezeaux.
About the estate:
Operated by the Devillard family—which also owns Château de Chamirey in Mercurey—the vineyard is situated on remarkable terroirs in the southern part of the Côte de Nuits, and its grapes are vinified in the spirit of modern wines, seeking high ripeness and deep, voluptuous textures. The results have been impressive in recent years, even among the village-level appellations, with wines featuring very refined juices—a departure from the more robust styles we’re accustomed to. The 2018 vintage has captured its full potential here; these will be wines suitable for aging, and indeed for very long-term aging in the case of the Nuits and Échézeaux. There is also a delightful red Burgundy.
