Domaine des Perdrix - Echezeaux 2001

A prestigious Grand Cru for a dreamy moment!

Rated property Excellent (Robert Parker), ** RVF , 4 stars from Bettane & Desseauve, Excellent from Gault Millau
The Domaine des Perdrix has the privilege of owning a superb plot in the best part of this prestigious Grand Cru of the Côte de Nuits. The Upper Echezeaux, covering an area of 1.2 hectares, border the Echezeaux plots of the Domaine de la Romanée-Conti. A magnificent terroir, producing a wine of great distinction, the result of meticulous work from vineyard to cellar, where the patient, lengthy aging of 18 months in 100% new oak barrels gives it its exceptional finesse. A truly great wine, perfect for enjoying with your holiday meals!

Rated estate (2021 guide): 4* Stars (Producers of the very highest quality, the pride of French viticulture)

About the estate:

Run by the Devillard family, who also own Château de Chamirey in Mercurey, the vineyard is situated on remarkable terroirs in the southern part of the Côte de Nuits, and its grapes are vinified in the spirit of modern wines, seeking high ripeness and deep, voluptuous textures. The results have been impressive in recent years, even at the village level, with wines that are now very refined—a departure from the more robust styles we used to know. The 2018 vintage has captured all its potential here; these will be wines for aging, and indeed for very long aging in the case of the Nuits and Échezeaux. There is also a delightful red Burgundy.
