"According to James Suckling, this Pouilly-Loché—with its exceptional concentration and maturity—is causing a sensation in the world of Chardonnay!"

“A powerful nose with notes of candied orange slices and baking spices, along with a subtle mineral touch. Exceptional concentration and maturity, while maintaining balance and precision: this clearly proves that you don’t need the ‘1er cru’ designation to make a splash in the world of Chardonnay! And the smoky note blends beautifully into this full-bodied palate. An intensely chalky finish with lovely length! Made from organically grown grapes. Enjoy now or celller.” (James Suckling 2024)

About the estate:

In 2002, Olivier Giroux purchased the Saint-Philibert estate in Loché and renamed it after his largest vineyard parcel, the Clos des Rocs. He cultivates 9 hectares of vines that are about 60 years old, 6 of which are in Pouilly-Loché. In 2006, he began converting the estate to organic farming and obtained certification in 2014. This young man in his forties has played a key role in raising the profile of Pouilly-Loché wines, for which he is the finest ambassador. Taking a hands-off approach in the cellar, he relies on moderate oak aging and unhurried bottling. His wines, characterized by great purity, captivate with their crystal-clear, fresh, and subtly oaky profiles.

About the wine:

Clos des Rocs Monopole is refined and precise, well-structured, briny, and mouthwatering; it deserves to age so it can relax a bit and reveal its full potential, as its texture is still a bit tight.
