Bettane & Desseauve

“It has creaminess, body, and a lively finish—that’s already very good.” (The Bettane & Desseauve Guide to French Wines) Surprisingly aromatic with mineral and floral notes, the 1er Cru Les Combettes is well-rounded and offers a lively, fresh finish. A very successful white wine from a complex vintage!

Wine rated 16.5/20 (Benchmark wine)

Rated estate (2018 guide): 4* Stars (Producers of the very highest quality, the pride of French viticulture)

About the wine:

It has a creamy texture, a rich body, and a lively finish—it's already very good.

About the estate:

Édouard Labruyère’s enthusiasm and determination to elevate this estate to the ranks of the grands crus are remarkable. His efforts are evident in the vineyard—which has been farmed organically since 1997—in the cellar, where foudres and demi-muids have been in use since 2012, and, most importantly, in the glass. With its exceptional range of grands crus across 22 hectares of vineyards—including 17 hectares in the Côte de Beaune and an exclusive selection of grands crus in the Côte de Nuits—this estate possesses all the qualities needed to join the elite ranks of Burgundy’s estates.

The value for money is abysmal—even scandalous.
