“Behind a deep ruby color with violet hues, the wine reveals aromas of strawberry and flowers, accompanied by lovely vanilla-like oak notes. Our judges love its supple, fruity attack, its concentrated body, and its lingering finish. Close to earning a star, this 2009 will certainly reach that level once its tannins have fully mellowed. A thyme-braised beef shank would pair well with this bottle after it has aged for two years in the cellar.” (Le Guide Hachette des Vins)

Hachette Wine Guide

Guide Hachette des vins

Wine rated (2013 guide) Mentioned (Successful wine)

About the wine:

This extensive family-owned estate (21.85 ha) is based in the Côte de Nuits. Philippe Brun has been overseeing winemaking since 1986. The La Dominode vineyard, part of the Les Jarrons 1er Cru, is one of the estate’s most reliable wines. Behind a deep ruby color with violet hues lie aromas of strawberry and flowers, complemented by lovely vanilla-like oak notes. Our panelists appreciate its supple, fruity attack, its concentrated body, and its lingering finish. Close to earning a star, this 2009 vintage will certainly reach that level once its tannins have fully softened. A braised beef shank with thyme would pair well with this bottle after it has aged for two years in the cellar.

Wine rated (2012 guide) 92/100 (Excellent wine)

Estate rated "Recommended" (Wine producer recommended by Robert Parker - The Wine Advocate)

About the wine:

Bruno Clair’s 2009 Savigny-les-Beaune La Dominode is fabulous in this vintage. The warmth of the year has produced a magnificently full-bodied wine. This 2009 is ripe, exotic, and exuberant. I particularly admire the interplay between its full-bodied character and its lingering minerality. Expected to reach its peak between 2012 and 2024.

Wine rated (2012 guide) 16/20 (Very good wine)

Rated estate (2014 guide) 2* Stars (These exceptional estates, often blessed with fabulous terroirs, are must-haves that, thanks to the consistency and excellence of their wines, belong in the cellars of discerning wine lovers)

About the wine:

The Savigny Premier Cru La Dominode is characterized by its aging but has a beautifully silky texture.

About the estate:

“Bruno Clair produces classic Burgundies that are young, lively, and crisp; they are often only fully appreciated after a few years of aging. They are immediately recognizable by their refined texture and beautiful length. The estate has showcased the terroirs of Marsannay as well as a fine selection of Gevrey-Chambertin wines, including the magnificent Clos Saint-Jacques and the estate’s crowning jewel: the elegant and refined Chambertin Clos de Bèze. The whites, though less well-known, are just as remarkable. The estate’s consistency is worthy of praise.”
