This beautiful and respectful Champagne House, located in Mareuil sur Ay, has been perpetuating the family tradition for five centuries on a vineyard consisting mainly of Premiers and Grands Crus. The famous Clos des Goisses of the Philipponnat House is one of the largest, covering 5.5 hectares of hillside on an ideal south-facing terroir of pure chalk.
The elegant and distinguished Philipponnat style is the result of meticulous and careful work from the production of the wines to their aging: exclusive use of the first pressings, fermentation and aging in barrels, aging in bottles for 3 to 11 years, and the use of old reserve wines (Solera system) in the blends. The distinctive feature of Philipponnat Champagne is the significant proportion of Pinot Noir, which brings power, intensity, structure, and vinosity to the House's style.
