Bettane & Desseauve
Rated estate (2020 guide) 1*Star (A serious, recommendable production, in line with what one would expect from its appellation(s))
About the estate:
This talented winemaker has generated considerable enthusiasm among wine lovers, but we do not always understand why when tasting his wines. Many seem too heavy or lack purity and finesse despite their solid structure. Occasionally, a dazzling wine restores our confidence, most often a white.

Wine rating (2021 guide) 92/100 (2019 vintage)
Rated estate (2021 guide) 2 stars (These very large estates, often blessed with fabulous terroirs, are must-haves which, thanks to their consistency and the excellence of their production, deserve a place in the cellars of discerning wine lovers).
About the estate:
After working as a vineyard manager at the Leccia estate, Nicolas Mariotti Bindi took over an old abandoned winery on the road to Oletta in 2015. He worked tirelessly to restore this facility, which allows him to better manage his production and work with gravity. The vineyard is certified organic and the soils are worked according to best practices. The wines are made in stainless steel vats and 16 hl egg-shaped cement vats. These honest wines, always full-bodied and velvety, offer a great frankness of flavor and are delicious in their youth, but also age well. Their high quality and unfailing consistency have earned the estate its second star this year.

Note and opinion by Mr. GILLES D. Published on 02/12/2022
I was expecting a typical Nielluciu wine, full of character and body... but I was sorely mistaken! In fact, Cantina is a simple, very "natural" wine, with no real tannic structure or volume. It has an intense black berry flavor enhanced by acidity, with notes of spices and olives, as well as a slightly earthy character. The finish is refreshing, with a hint of bitterness. The least we can say is that this wine, which is pleasant in itself but overpriced, failed to impress the guests gathered for an aperitif dinner of wood-fired pizzas with brousse cheese and figatelli, accompanied by plates of Corsican charcuterie. Fortunately, friends had brought along some U. Murtone and Clos Alivu, which were undoubtedly more authentic. Rating: 2.7.
