"This vintage is one of the longest aged in the world: 10 years of waiting for an extraordinary wine, according to Jancis Robinson!"
" Sit back and savor this Unico if you open it now. Exotic spices and hints of balm and cumin appear after the onslaught of blackberries, chocolate, iron, incense, and violets. It is so refined and polished, with a mouthful of velvety tannins that are so cohesive, tight, and still reactive. Impeccably structured, it is vertical before being extremely long and linear. A consistent Unico that seduces with its ferrous minerality and rusticity. Drink now or keep. About wine:
Very full-bodied and rounded, with generous breadth on the mid-palate offset by assertive energy, supported by lively acidity and a well-present tannic structure. An interesting counterpoint to the more chiseled linearity of the 2014 vintage. With all the elements in their right place, but the fruit still as striking as ever, it will be interesting to see how this wine evolves as tertiary complexity softens the primary and secondary liveliness. Cocoa powder, dry tobacco leaves, and seaweed float above juicy plum, black cherry, and black olive. The finish is very long and spicy, with lingering notes of tapenade and salty licorice. 2025-2050

About wine:
The 2015 Único comes from a year of rapid ripening, and it was necessary to harvest early to preserve the fruit's crispness. This is the first harvest produced entirely by winemaker Gonzalo Iturriaga. It was aged for five years in oak, a year and a half in barrels and three and a half years in oak vats. It is a great vintage, produced with 96% Tinto Fino and 4% Cabernet Sauvignon. It is mature, with 14.5% alcohol, a pH of 3.88, and 4.8 grams of acidity. The grapes are cooled for a day, the bunches are selected, and then fermented with a starter culture in vats. This is a ripe and concentrated vintage, with the classic and modern nose of Vega Sicilia, expressive, aromatic and open, with notes of black cherries, spices, cigar box and a medium-bodied to full-bodied palate with abundant fine-grained tannins, with good balance and the rustic elegance of the best Ribera del Duero. 2027-2042

About wine:
Cedar, graphite, and a subtle hint of earth. It is fluid, with mellow, very soft tannins. Definitely a vintage of great delicacy, with less pronounced oak. It is completely multi-layered, and tertiary notes are already apparent, complemented by a touch of pine forest freshness on the finish. A great piece of work; this is a truly extraordinary wine. 2024-2060
