“The 2013 Calderara Sottana has a distinct character compared to the estate’s other wines. It offers a more balsamic style with notes of wild fennel, rosemary, black fruit, and burnt earth. On the palate, it is the most ethereal and elusive, as the aromas are constantly evolving. Lovely fruit notes round out the profile. Despite the sublime complexity on the nose, the wine is more immediate and direct on the palate. Lively berry flavors are followed by smoky tannins. This vintage should age very well.” (Wine Advocate 2015 - Robert Parker)

About wine:

A more intense color than the Santo Spirito, and a more powerful nose. On the palate, it is juicy, smooth, and red-fruity with enveloping tannins. It will improve with age. A Burgundian interpretation of Nerello Mascalese.
