"When tasting the 2013 Guardiola, our thoughts wander to the immense beauty of this vineyard. It is probably one of the most beautiful sites we have had the honor of visiting in Italy. This otherworldly beauty—with volcanic stone walls, pre-phylloxera vines, cherry trees, and wildflowers with small shrines to the Virgin Mary dotted throughout the vineyards—is etched in our memories. Guardiola is one of my favorite Etna wines. It expresses itself in a firm and sophisticated way with notes of blackcurrant supported by beautiful minerality and notes of dried flowers. The tannins are firm and drying. This vintage far exceeds our expectations." (Wine Advocate 2015 - Robert Parker)
