“A delicious, textured, and well-balanced Faugères, with notes of spicy cherries, toasted herbs, forest floor, pebbles, and a hint of dried meat. It is medium-bodied, with finely grained tannins and a velvety texture. The cherry character is lovely, and the herbs and spices blend into the savory finish. Drink now or celller.” (James Suckling)

About the wine:
Maison Jaune offers a refreshing character, a delightful richness, and a well-controlled extraction. The Carignan grape gives it its vibrancy, its slightly smoky aromas, and its notes of soot, all underpinned by ripe red fruit.
About the estate:
Sophie and Thibaud Bardi de Fourtou took over this historic estate in Faugères in 2017. The wines we tasted for this edition are the last vestiges of the transition from Jean-Michel Alquier to the new owners. What is the couple’s goal? To preserve the estate’s signature style, whose vineyard is dominated by old Syrah vines from massal selections (among the first planted in Languedoc in the 1960s by Jean-Michel Alquier’s father, Gilbert), complemented by Mourvèdre and Grenache. We’ll be keeping a close eye on this new chapter.
